Report from Presiden Rtn Sudhir B Deshmuk : 69th Republic day was celebrated by RBE at Kabini Hall, Indiranagar. The program was unique
as three officers from armed forces shared their experiences in the forces
while serving the nation in uniform.
The program was commenced with the normal activities
like Collaring, calling meeting to order, observing silence and reading out of
forthcoming events by the secy. President Rtn. Sudhir B Deshmukh requested
Chief Guest PDG Rtn. Yoganada to propose Opening remarks. The chief Guest PDG
Yogananda delivered key note address, where he expressed gratitude to the armed
forces for their most dedicated service. He drew parallels with services of
Rotary like in eradicating Polio from the surface of the earth. After that
President Rtn. Sudhir B Deshmukh handed over further proceedings to Rtn Col
Narasimha.
The guest Speakers were Group Captain Mark Berakya
from Air Force, Commander Dhananjay from Navy, Colonel K N Narasimha from Army.
Group Captain Mark, a meritorious officer who served
as an Communication Engineer had vast and varied experience in operational
aspects of the Airforce. He shared challenges and innovative methods of finding
solutions to keep the warplanes operating without any obstacles. There were
lighter moments when he narrated stories of taking over a legal role for some
time and as in charge of military farm where he was asked to increase the
productivity of cows. The communication engineer turned milk man !! succeeded
in that role too !! .What a flexibility of roles.
Commander Dhananjay unfolded stories of life on
board of the warships in an interesting style. The life on massive ships but narrow
cabins inside and water as much and as far you see raised goose bumps. The
narration on training was interesting and light hearted at times. But the aim
of training was clear that made strong man out of a boy!! The communication
makes a life line for the ship. The challenges as an engineer on the board of a
warship were many. The health of personnel inside the ships and life back at
homes had to be balanced. When the milestones in professional and personal
lives pleasantly coincided that made soldiers forgot their pains.
Colonel Narasimha, an officer from Corps of engineer,
Indian Army talked about the services in largely varied terrain and weather
conditions. Working in areas from hot desert to sub zero high altitude areas.
The experiences in difficult and militant infested areas were interesting. The
personal account of adventurous life in naxal infested areas to execute given
task drove home hardships on the ground. The experiences and combat role of an army officer made the
audience glued.
The soldiers were felicitated and Rtn Mathew
Sebastian proposed a vote of thanks.
